Rikki & Tyler met while she was waitressing at a sports bar. He would come in with his friends! At first, they became friends. Then it blossomed into a relationship.
Rikki says they knew they were meant to be together when they realized how stubborn they both were. They love challenging one another and knew they would never give up on each other.
The proposal was like something out of a movie. Rikki & Tyler love to travel and try to go out of the country at least once a year. That year they went to Mexico to visit Cancun. They were there for a week, and on day 3 they hiked up an old ancient ruin. They were very high up were surrounded by rainforest. Tyler asked a random couple to take a picture of them at the top. Right as they were about to take the picture he got down on one knee and asked me if she would marry him. Everyone around them were cheering, taking pictures and videotaping the couple. Rikki says she was just concentrating on not falling off the side of the ruin!
Their wedding party consisted of the most important people in their lives that have a special place in their hearts.
The couple had their first dance to, “Gimmie That Girl” by Joe Nichols. That song really explains who they are perfectly. It took them a good while to come up with the song but when they finally decided on this one it just felt right. It was more upbeat and fun, just like Rikki & Tyler.
OUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF THE WEDDING
We honestly don’t have a favorite memory of the wedding. It all went by so fast and although things didn’t go as planned, in the end, being married was all that mattered.
OUR ADVICE TO THOSE PLANNING NOW
To those that are planning their wedding now, the advice that we would give you is not to put so much pressure on yourselves thinking that your day has to be perfect. It probably won’t and that’s okay! You are marrying the love of your life! Splurge on your photographer and if you are someone like us that forget things…get a videographer! I was so nervous that I don’t even remember saying I DO! The last piece of advice that I would give is to go on your honeymoon right after your wedding. DON’T PUT IT OFF!!! It was the best thing that we did, we were able to actually celebrate being married and it was amazing. Even if you can’t afford a big extravagant trip or one week off of work take at least 2-3 days right after your wedding and go somewhere special where you can make new memories together as a married couple.
Such a special day! Many, many congrats to the happy couple from all of us here at Heirloom!
